this edge of the earth
there are these days that the ocean calls you to her vastness and depths.
and so, you find yourself moved to journey to her edge.
starting with a stream, you make your way along the estuary.

first, you encounter the sound of splashing and feathers
and witness the young and old coming together
in a joyful
celebration
of water,

and
warmth.

as you pass,
the water becomes still.
you reflect
and are
reflected.

as you walk,
you wander,
you take in all
the
little
grains
of sand,

and you find that
you
are also taken in.

you find texture

everywhere.

you dip your toes
into
the
salty
edge –
where two worlds meet.

and then, make your way back
along the stream – occasionally looking back.

Once you come back to the forest,
you start again,
but above the vastness,
that comes to the shores,
lined with light.

you find that beneath the surface
there
is
beauty

and the
child
of
beauty.

You make
your
way
down
to the cobbles.
And find radiance.

and the child
of
radiance.

When it is time you touch the waters,
and
move back
up.

you are overwhelmed with gratitude
for a sea of beaks that sits at the top –
for this year they
are more present
in this changing world.

you relax into the cliffs at
this
edge
of the world

and witness.

your heart
fills.

and then you breathe in.
you look out.

and you return from this edge of the earth.
